This will take you to POPVOX where you can express your support and comments. You will have to logon. The comments will be sent to your Senators on the S 1962. After you do the Senate Bill enter HR 3929 in the upper right box on the home page and repeat the process.

We all think that the National Park Brand is very important in our 47 year effort. Share this with your family and friends that are supporters of the Pullman ideas. We need a majority of green dots in every state. You see them when you click on view reports & comments.

We need the help of you and your friends.

I support H.R.3929: Pullman National Historical Park Act because

The NPS report establishes the unique opportunity to build an economic engine with a
minimum of federal funding due to:

• Ownership of 13 acres and key restored landmark buildings by public and not for profit groups;

• Great access via multiple forms of public transportation and interstate highways;

• Resources available from foundations, major institutions and a variety of existing
governmental programs.

George Pullman demonstrated what an individual can achieve through free enterprise in a democracy. As a national park Pullman could teach lessons about the history of technology, industry and transportation. Pullman furnished jobs and a superior working environment for thousands of immigrants.

Pullman’s tourism, is “educational recreation” of great interest and value to current and future generations.

Senate Bill S. 1962 clearly identifies Pullman’s significance to the labor movement, architecture and city planning.

The document by the NPS “Economic Engine – An Analysis of the Potential Impact of a Pullman National Historic Park” establishes the unique opportunity to build an economic engine with a minimum of federal funding. This is due to:

• The ownership of 13 acres of the industrial portion and key restored landmark buildings by the state, the city and the not for profit Historic Pullman Foundation;

• The quality of residential structures and the demonstrated commitment of residents to preserve and restore the neighborhood fabric and historic character of hundreds of brick row houses and apartments. It is a good place to live and is racially and economically diverse;

• The great access to the district via multiple forms of existing public transportation and interstate highways in the heart of one of the most populated metropolitan areas in the nation;

• The demonstrated contribution of financial and human resources by foundations, not for profit groups, major institutions and a variety of existing governmental programs.

An unrealized potential which is not so widely recognized is the role of an individual in creating a business, and advancing the application of technology in industry, through personal creative energy. George Pullman was a model of what an individual can accomplish through free enterprise in a democracy. His leadership and success also teaches many lessons about the history of technology, business, industry and transportation. This is an exciting story worthy of telling. It is a component of the historical impact of the industrial revolution which has influenced every facet of life.

Without Pullman’s vision, none of the other factors which quality Pullman as a city, state and national historic landmark district would have ever occurred. Often overlooked is Pullman’s role in furnishing jobs and high quality of life for thousands of immigrants whose skills contributed to the famous Pullman palace cars.Pullman’s tourism, is “educational recreation”, of great interest and value to current and future generations.
